A Simple System for Cranking Out New Articles Consistently

To make money with websites, you need traffic.

And to get traffic on a consistent basis you need to understand SEO – search engine optimization.

Fortunately, SEO isn’t difficult to learn. In fact, most of it can be boiled down into two steps:

(1) Find good keywords.

(2) Write articles about those keywords.

Unfortunately, most people don’t execute step (2) consistently. They may write a couple new articles per week consistently for a month or two, but eventually drop the habit before they actually have enough articles and enough domain authority to see the results of their efforts.

This is why it’s important to have a system in place that allows you to consistently produce new articles each week.

A Simple System for Cranking Out New Articles

Here is the simple system that I use to crank out new articles on a regular basis:

(1) Maintain a list of keywords to write about.

To create a list of keywords to write about for your site, I recommend watching this video where I show an example of how to create a content plan from scratch for a new site.

Once you have a long list of keywords to write about, you really shouldn’t need to do keyword research again for months at a time. The idea is that you can simply maintain a single list and work your way down the list, writing one article per time and crossing it off your list as you go.

This eliminates the need for you to sit at your desk and spend time figuring out what to write about when you actually sit down to write. Just pick a keyword from the list and get going.

(2) Schedule blocks of time each week to write.

This step is incredibly important. You need to schedule in advance a specific time that you will sit down and write each week. Whether this is one day, two days, or five days per week, you need to be consistent about it.

This single decision – to schedule writing time into your week – will form the foundation of building a successful site.

When I used to have a 9-5 job, I would get up each morning and write for 1-2 hours each weekday before work. Now that I work on my websites full-time, I spend about 4 hours writing each morning, five days per week.

(3) Eliminate distractions.

When you sit down to write an article, put your phone away. It’s possible to crank out a high quality article in just one hour, but not if you constantly check social media, email, and text messages.

If you have a busy schedule, this step is especially important. If you only have 1-2 hours each week to spend working on your site, you can make significant progress with writing new articles but only if you work with complete focus.

This is a habit that takes time to develop, but the more you do it the easier it becomes.

(4) Track the articles you write.

Lastly, track the articles you write in a calendar. This way you can look back at previous weeks and see exactly how much you’ve written.

Once you’ve kept up this habit for a few weeks, you’ll be able to look back and see a consistent chain of articles that you’ve written each week and you won’t want to break this chain. This will encourage you to keep writing new articles.

I personally use a simple calendar in Notion where I keep track of the articles that I write each week for each of my websites:

This simple 4-step system has helped me personally grow my online income to over $20k per month because it has allowed me to produce new articles consistently each week across my sites.

It’s a simple system that you can also use to grow your own traffic and income to your site if you’re willing to stick with it.
